This is such a magical and whimsical vision. Damn I wish I had enough time to devote to exploring every nook and crevice this work depicts. I would be here for hours! Incredible attention to detail. The colours contrast in just the right manner to continue to draw the viewer deeper into the work and the juxtaposition of imagery causes the viewer to question their involvement: have they become part of the work. Is it a door into an alternative dimension/realm? The rural setting contrasts sharply with the fleet of airships drifting amongst the clouds. A truely inspirational concept and exquisit execution. Glad you won!
If anybody could pick a dreamland to live-in I wish it would be just like this one, full of life and adventurous things to do. This image really takes me back to my childhood and one of my favorite books "The Little Prince" where life is simple on little planets ... Every detail in this imaginative little world comes to life and makes a dreamy place - from swinging in the open sky to, laundry being dried in a breeze of a mushroom tree ...to sheeps strolling on fresh grass and even a sleeping doggie. Just wonderful - all in my fave flavor of pastel colors - it's good to have a kids soul at any age !! Congrats on the WIN as well, very well deserved.
Love! Love! Love! And more love! While staring at this artwork I feel a cloud of happiness inside me. And it's bursting out the kid in me. Bringing out my not just my childhood but the joy of when I was growing up. ^-^
This is absolutely gorgeous. Everything is extremely detailed, and very, very beautiful.
I quite like the tree. The colouring on its white and brown trunk makes it appear almost soft to the touch, as if covered in a thin layer of plush. The rougher, almost bird-nest feel to the 'leaves' serves as a nice contrast. I like the slightly irregular dome shape of the tree-tops as well. And I like the way the branches extend, again, in a soft sort of manner. The details you added to the tree simply add to the wonderful effect. Those amazing little birdhouses, the ladder and pegs attached to the bottom, the little girl on the swing, the little boy on the ladder...It looks like they're having a lot of fun.
The house you've drawn looks perfect...I remember seeing pictures of similar rural houses, in the Bulgarian and Russian folk-tale books I would read, and thinking they were pretty. This one, takes it to a new level, really. I love the soft roofs, and the decoration of red on white. I like how tall it is, and extends with a tower-like quality. It almost looks like a small castle. I love the little windows, with their small white shutters and the little flowers and greenery growing below. In fact, I love the fact that there's so much plants everywhere around the house, in pots, outside of pots, climbing up the walls...it's very pretty. I like the chimney, and the tiled roofs on the parts of the house below. I like the two hanging laundry lines - one attached to the tree, the other...well, it almost looked as if it's levitating until I saw the post. The rooster on the right, and the girl airing out the cover (though, is over the smoke the best place to do it?) are a wonderful touch as well.
Again, I like how soft the grass looks. It's certainly dream-grass, the kind you want to roll around in as a child (and well, still now). I like the little fence with the chickens (right?) on the right hand posts. I love the sheep! Do two of them have a red bows around their neck? I think the little dog house is a really nice touch, with the sleeping dog and the toy beside it. And the girl is very sweet, with the orange cat beside her. And the other girl, blowing bubbles into the skies... I think the flowers are beautiful, and the patches of growing crows, certainly useful. And I love the pretty scarecrow.
I think the island-like quality of everything is stunning, especially behind the curtain of the clouds. I have to admit, airships are one of my weaknesses, and you've drawn them in a very creative way! On the right, a flying boat, bringing hay. It's very original! And I think the sails are a wonderful - one, the common triangle sail, and the other looks almost like a wing. The little lantern is quite the nice touch. And of course, the other little boats and islands seen through the clouds are wonderful...
